Spring anime catchup

Due to me being lazy, I missed out on last season's anime entirely. So for the past two weeks, I've been playing catchup.

Been watching about nine episodes a day, and at this point I only have one show left to start on. With any luck, I'll be done entirely by next Wednesday or so.

What I've been watching...

Nichijou-
Funny as HELL. I haven't laughed so hard at a show since Ikamusume and Milky Holmes were on air. Also, Hakase is fucking adorable. Painfully so.

Steins;Gate-
THIS SHOW IS AWESOME. Started out strong, and then with the plottwist in episode twelve it gets super awesome. This is the only time I can think of where my favorite character in a galge adaptation was actually the protagonist.

Sengoku Otome Momoiro Paradox-
Started out as stupid fluff, and then got legitimately good when they finally got to the Akechi and Ieyasu subplots later on. Most of the yuri teasing was just teasing and the very end got on my nerves, but it was still enjoyable for the most part.

A Channel-
Cute girls doing cute things. It was a cute show and didn't try to be anything more, and I am perfectly fine with this. My only complaint was how they forced an insert song into every episode... while they eventually figured out how to not make it seem unnaturally placed, they really broke the flow of the episodes before that point.

Astarotte no Omocha!-
Yay the kind of show that is made just for a Zenigame. Cute as hell, despite alll the dirty jokes... in the end, it was just a story about a lonely girl who missed her mother. I will say that their family situation is all kinds of fucked up, though.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko-
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAFT.
Nice show, though nothing was really resolved... but the style was nice and the charadesigns were great and Meme is YES PLEASE.

Hidan no Aria-
KUGYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, part the second.
She got her usual typecast role this time around, the violent tsundere loli character. But that happens to be what I like, so no complaints there. The characters were likeable, the action scenes were pretty nice, and yeah. I hope it gets a sequel.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai-
Dammit this show. It's REALLY FUCKING GOOD, but also incredibly depressing. Like, the last episode had me feeling like someone had punched me in the throat, and a friend of mine was crying outright. Aagh.
Still fucking great, though.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san-
Stupid and vulgar and mean-spirited. There's only like one likeable character in the entire thing, but I'm pretty sure that was the point. Still really funny when it wanted to be, though.

Tiger & Bunny-
HEROISM AND PRODUCT PLACEMENT.
Despite the CG which still bothers me, the show itself is pretty damned good. Still bugs me how Tiger gets treated like shit by pretty much everyone, but eh.

Dog Days-
I was expecting a standard "boy gets summoned to another world to become its saviour" show, but... yeah. Everything is just a game, and the show thus far is just silly fluff. Episode six's cliffhanger has me expecting a shift in tone, but who knows about that.
Still has the best action scenes and voice cast of any show of its season, though.

Ao no Exorcist-
Read the manga, and the anime actually does the dramatic bits more effectively. I'm pretty surprised by this, considering that that doesn't usually happen... ever.

Shukufuku no Campanella clear.

Finished Shukufuku no Campanella... back in June. Wow, I've really been slacking on updating this blog.

It was pretty fun, and I wish I'd have finished it earlier. My only real complaint is that Nina's story was a total copout. Just... ugh. He forgot everything that happened because he was drunk, and she didn't bother telling him because she didn't want things to change between them... AAGH.

In the end, my personal route ranking...

Agnes > Minette = Chelsea > Tortillas > Carina >>>>> Nina.

Shame too, I liked everyone in the cast.

And I'm going to have to get the fandisc at some point, as it gives the Tortillas a proper path and I really want to play through that.

Also, Agnes with her hair down is LOVELY.

Omega no Shikai demo CLEAR

After listening to Ythm for the thousandth time, I finally decided to check out Omega no Shikai itself.

Unfortunately for me, its demo was a HUGE bitch to find, as Nekobanana's official site has no links to the damned thing. I ended up getting it off of 2ch, since someone was kind enough to post the direct link there.

I ended up finishing it the other day, and... I MUST HAVE THE FULL VERSION.

The story was interesting, and I am left wondering what the hell's going on with the incoherent ranting that interspersed the main chapters with Makoto and friends.

As for the characters themselves, Miya is awesome. And she seems to be the female lead so yay. The rest of the cast is also yay.

Though the demo ends just before I assume the crazy shit starts going down, and the exact point where it stops had me AGHAHGAGAHGAGHAAHGAHAGHAGHAGHing for a good while... now I'm going to have to go out of my way to find a copy off Yahoo Auctions or the like since game piracy goes against my Justice.

Bleh.

...but with that done for now, I guess I can go back to the things that I've been putting off... and maybe now I can get back to Campanella. Had I been playing that instead of messing around with this demo, I'd have cleared the game by now...

仮面ライダーアギト PROJECT G4

I just got done watching Kamen Rider Agito: Project G4, after putting it off for... ten years. Yay me.

It was actually really good, too. I was expecting it to be merely meh like a lot of Rider movies get, but it turned out as more or less a really long higher-budget episode of the TV show, so all was good.

High points:

Gills getting his arm torn clean off and then growing that shit back like motherfucking PICCOLO before going Exceed and murdering the hell out of an Unknown.

Main theme (24/7 version) queueing up as Shining Agito finishes off the Queen Ant Unknown.

MANLY BATTLE OF MANLINESS between G3-X and G4, culminating in Ozawa telling him that G3-X has no way to win against the technically superior G4, so he should instead fight as HIKAWA MAKOTO.

Then we get Kaname Jun in-suit, battle damaged, fighting in the climax of the film. That shit was SO AWESOME.

I don't care what anyone says, Hikawa is the real main character of that show.

...oh, and FUJIOKA MOTHERFUCKING HIROSHI, as the head of the police department, telling Shouichi to fight in his stead. My soul nearly exploded from how awesome that was.

So yeah, good movie. Now I can finally get around to finishing the show.

DS tsumige

Here be my aforementioned DS tsumige pile. I made a point back in January to finally finish it, and now I have so wahoo.

First was Devil Survivor, which I've had since around August of 2009. (that year sucked for various reasons.) I walked the path of Shura and cleared it in January.

Then was Dragon Quest V, which a friend got me for Christmas two years ago. Japanese version because why the hell not. And the shit I found out later about its localization really bugged the hell out of me, so that really was for the best.

Really good game, it kept me from doing much else while I was playing it. Though Jesus Christ that game was depressing as hell. Its main character had like the shittiest life ever.

Then I finished off Black Sigil, ehich I've had since launch. It was pretty enjoyable despite its faults. I kind of wish there was more of an epilogue, but it did do well with showing what hapened to the characters after the final boss was killed so eh.

Then was Mugen no Frontier, which started out as a goofy fanservice game in the beginning and then changed into HOLY SHIT HAKEN IS SUCH A MAN in the end bits. I'm going to have to get the ssequel eventually.

And finally was Mugen Kouro, which I've already gone over.

It's nice to finally clear a stack of games like that, but now I have nothing to play... I could get back to my PS2 games, but meh.

ポケモン図鑑完成!

やっとできました!

On Sunday, I finally managed to complete my zukan entries in Diamond.

This is the first pokemon game in which I've actually done this, and I've been playing the series since the very beginning.

...that's actually kind of sad.

HOW LAZY AM I!?

Mugen Kouro CLEAR

I cleared Mugen Kouro (Infinite Space) on Sunday, finally clearing up my DS tsumige pile.

Pictured are my final two battleships, which turned the final area into a total joke.

It was really good and certain scenes were simply fucking awesome (Nials was a fucking bastard, but holy shit he went out like a MAN), but in the end it just kind of fell apart.

It doesn't lower my overall view of the game itself, but meh. They really could have done better with the final bit.
